On the 18th of December 2009 I found myself standing outside the St Moritz Tobogganing Club in St. Mortiz, Switzerland. I was there to document the 125th season of this famous club.
The job was outrageous. Everyday I had to produce a DVD (approximately 30 minutes long) of the morning's riding as well as the shenanigans of the day. The following 72 days (excluding Christmas day) were spent filming for 5 hours in the morning and editing in the afternoon to produce a DVD for 7pm to hand over to the 3 hotels so the members can watch their riding progress as well as the happenings of the day.
The thing was I never had much experience. I had to learn how to use a professional broadcast camera (HVR-Z7E) in a couple of days as well as how to use Final Cut Pro. It was literally a crash course in film and editing. I suppose that's the best way to learn.
